5 tips for preventing falls.jpg Every year, approximately one-third of all people over age 65 will fall. Many of these falls can cause injuries such as hip fractures or head traumas, and these injuries can be very debilitating—even fatal.

However, despite the grim statistics, falls do not have to be a necessary part of aging. Axzons team teaches these tips which can help reduce your risk of falling:
  • Do not bend down to pick up objects from the floor; use a reacher or ask for help.
  • Avoid rushing to answer the phone; you could lose your balance and fall. Carry a cell phone with you or let the answering machine get the call.
  • Wear sensible shoes with good support.
  • Have your eyes checked.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Ask for help if you need it.
